Everwinter

Diego and Marcos gazed up into the snowy forest ahead of them. Where they stood, the air was warm with a pleasant breeze. Ten feet ahead of them, a dense and heavy snow fell constantly, covering the ground with at least three feet of precipitation. They had reached their destination. Both of them had come on this journey for a very specific reason: they came to visit their father's grave and pay their respects to the man who had given his life for them a decade ago. The brothers knew in theory where to find him, and they brought with them what maps of these lands had survived. They thought themselves ready. Marcos gave Diego a reassuring look as the two of them donned heavy jackets and snowshoes, which immediately seemed oppressive in the summer air. They laughed for a moment at how ridiculous they would look were they going anywhere else. They recalled the strange looks they had received back in Orzinia from their countrymen, stocking up on winter clothing in the middle of summer, and laughed some more. After a while, the brothers set forth into Everwinter. They set foot on the eternal snow, and the temperature instantly dropped to below freezing. They braced themselves against the breeze that had turned against them, where earlier it kept them cool in the summer heat. They ducked their heads in, produced their walking sticks, and marched into the trees in search of the dead man's ghost.

Geography

The Realm of Everwinter is situated high in the Queen's Mountains in central Kyrenthos. Nearly 80% of the land is covered in coniferous forests, and the temperature never rises above 30 degrees Fahrenheit in any place, even along the edge of the Deep Woods of Alvia. The Deep Woods are a deciduous, temperate wood lying directly to the south of Everwinter. The mountaintops are the only locations in Everwinter that are not entirely covered in dense foliage. They are home to legendary castles from antiquity. One of these keeps, which overlooks the Land Without Men to the west, is supposedly the home of the Winter Queen herself: the Goddess Neeva.

Fauna & Flora

There are few to no creatures who call Everwinter their home. The land is perpetually covered in fresh snow, and as such there is little means by which fauna can locate food, save one another.
