Dornkeep

The capital of Staehl Barony, Dornkeep is built upon the site of an ancient dwarven city. Though most of the buildings have been torn down or repurposed over the years, it still bears the basic traditional outline of dwarven societies, with the city split into "Caste" districts.
The major Districts of the city are the Gold District, the Iron District, the Silver District and the Copper District.
The Gold District contains the castle as well as the court and courtiers of the Barony. In recent years, it has also increasingly become home to nouveau riche tradesmen and merchants.
The Iron District is situated next to the Gold District and contains the city's fort and barracks. It is home to the soldiers and to the proficiencies of their material; Blacksmiths, fletchers and foundries.
The Silver District was traditionally home to craftsmen working with finer metals, but the district has also become the place for markets and trade. It is also the district housing the Dornkeep Alchemical Academy, a constantly growing institution.
The Copper District was in dwarven times intended as a home for manual laborers, but has become as much a home for the poor; Day laborers, unemployed and criminals equally inhabit this poorly maintained district.

Government

Though ruled by the Baroness Irene Staehl, the city is managed by the Mayor and a City Council, local nobles and influential tradespeople.
The City Administration is a rather large bureaucratic institution, managing the maintenance of infrastructure, taxation and various permits for the city as well as the City Watch.

Defences

Dornkeep is surrounded by an ancient wall, walling in the Gold, Iron and Silver districts, with three gates and towers along it.
The Castle itself is surrounded by its own wall, manned with soldiers and siege weaponry to defend against attackers.
