Ysgard

Ysgard is one of the outer planes in chaotic neutrality and good.   Ysgard is also known as the domain of heroes. This is the outer plane that the souls of warriors, champions, and all manners of proud fighters wish to go. The plane in its entirety is made up of three layers, traveling from layer to layer is most commonly done by portals disguised as wells. These layers are made of what looks like chunks of land that have been ripped out of the ground and are now floating in a void. These land masses have gravity and a breathable air around them. These lands can vary in size from an island and a continent. On the underside of each island are rivers of lava and fire that flow freely and often change course. These land masses were also often changing as they would float and collide into each other or break in half to form new masses. It is common to see raging battles throughout one of the planes at any given time where the souls of warriors would battle each other to their fullest all-in good sport, only to make marry, eat, and drink afterwards.   Ysgard   The first layer with the same name as the plane, Ysgard, is the most populated and the most well-known. This layer consisted of mostly rolling hills, wide valleys, and seldom mountains. Despite the ever-changing landscapes because of land masses grinding into each other, breaking apart from one another, and forming new ones, this layer is often dotted with large halls made for gathering, eating, partying, and resting. A common day cycle for the denizens here is wake up, gather, fight, regroup, feast, rest, repeat. Sometimes everyone in these halls would team up to fight another neighboring hall. Sometimes everyone in the hall would have a tournament to crown a champion, for that day. When one land mass was about to crash into another, often times everyone from each land mass would fight each other. At the end of these fights, it is common for the victors to pick up the defeated and invite the ones that fought bravely and with honor back to their hall. There were no enemies and allies would change often.   Musphelheim   Musphelheim is the second layer of Ysgard. The land in this layer is reversed from the one above it. Meaning that the land is mostly covered in fire, craggy mountains, and rivers of lava. Because of this, there are much fewer warriors here. Instead, Musphelheim is dominated by the fire giants that dwell there. These giants live and work here in their own hand made forges using the caverns in the rocks and rivers of lava. Often times the warriors above will come down and try to bargain or make deals with these giants in order to get one of the giants' mythical crafted arms or armor. Occasionally, the warriors above will seek to challenge the giants below, much to the giant's annoyance. They'll storm their way down and hard they may try; they very rarely win. The fire giants here are the best of the best at forging much like the ones that dwell in the fire plane cities. Unlike their fire plane counterparts however, the fire giants here are of a good nature. While they can already create what would be a Dwarf's magnum opus in a day, they are never satisfied with it. There exists a land bridge that connects Ysgard, the plane, with that of the material plane. A fire giant made gate blocks this land bridge from any nonliving soul from leaving the plane but allows visitors from the material plane in and out.   Nidavellir   Nidavellir is the last and bottom layer of Ysgard. The land masses here still move and grind against one another, the difference is that they do it to such an extent that it would appear that you are underground. This layer appears to be a series of tunnels and caverns that are heated up and kept warm by springs that were naturally hot and steaming because of the hot rocks around them. The ones that call this layer home are the Dwarves and the Gnomes despite their animosity on the material plane. Here on this layer, they are able to put both of their expertise to great use better than they ever could on the material plane. With the tinkering of the Gnomes and crafting of the Dwarves, they are able to create tools, weapons, armor, and other miscellaneous fantastical trinkets that they are more than happy to trade with visitors from the material plane or the warriors on the first plane.
