The Beast Lands

The Beast Lands is an outer plane that represents chaotic good and neutrality.   The plane is comprised of three different layers each with their own time of day that never changes. Each layer has a variety of weathers, terrains, and lands to roam with the benefit of not affecting each other. For example, you could wander through a desert and quickly come across a frozen tundra which then leads into a tropical coastline. All manner of plants, trees, and fungi that could be found on the material plane are also here both in a more normal and giant forms. The first discoverers of this plane thought it as the heaven of hunting grounds at first for the abundance of all natural animals that roamed the plane. It did not take them long to discover that the animals they hunted had the intelligence, mindsets, and personalities of an average human with the full capabilities to even speak. Some of the exceptionally smarter creatures are even capable of casting magic. Every kind of natural animal you could find on the material plane exists in the beast lands including birds, insects, fish, mammals, reptiles, and even turtles. These animals are also rarely found to be in various sizes from their natural states to giants.   Krigala   The first layer of the Beast Lands is called Krigala, it would be the first layer you touch as you enter the plane. This land while having various landscapes, is mostly covered in thick forests. This top layer is also in a state of perpetual noon day with a comfortable warmth and perpetual sun ahead of you no matter which angle you look at it. On this top layer you will find that all manner of intelligent animals of both prey and predator co-exist peacefully, living and helping one another as if neighbors. Physical portals are abundant in all shapes and sizes that can lead to the other two layers and back to the material plane but they are invisible to the un-enchanted eye. You may be flowing down a gentle stream and after passing in between two rocks you could wind up somewhere else, walking through an archway of a seemingly regular branch, climbing through a tree hollow. These portals are often one way not allowing you to turn back and return through, fortunately these portals are so abundant that finding another one isn't too difficult of a task.   Brux   The second layer known as Brux is in many ways similar to the layer above and in several ways different. It has the same degree of varying landscapes mostly covered in thick forests with intelligent animals that are capable of speech. The most noticeable difference is that this layer is in a perpetual twilight with a red sun forever setting to the west and a moon beginning to rise in the east creating a constant gray twilight. This layer is considered more dangerous than that of Krigala as one will find prey and predator behaving more like they would on the material plane. While the sentient creatures do not need to eat per say, they will often fight, bargain, or reason for territory but very rarely actually kill one another. Most notably on this layer, there exists the great spirits of each animal and among the most feared is that of the cat.   Karasuthra   The final layer is the one that has the potential to change the most. While the other two have perpetual levels of light, this layer's moon set in the center of the night sky can change from a full moon to a new moon, everything in-between, and seemingly at random. Meaning that for the span of a year the moon could stay full, suddenly it would change to just a sliver of light for an hour, and then it could change to mostly full again for a month. The sentient animals that traverse this land seem to grow more ferocious and bestial, a tiger could grow larger or seemingly translucent to hide better and a deer may grow extra spikes on its horns, a set of sharp teeth, and even its eyes may change to help it "hunt". In all of the Beast Lands the enchanted and sentient animals seem to know where or at the least be able to see the portals and choose to go from one to the other at their own will for their own individual reasons. During the full moon certain areas seem to be illuminated, the animals grow different color patterns and colors. It is understoood that during these times, even if an animal were to rip into another, drain it of all its blood, and consume its flesh, the one that died will eventually emerge from one of the illuminated pools or lakes that dot the regions. However, it is completely unknown as to what happens when the moon is new as the entire layer becomes absolutely dark with no amount of dark vision or true sight being able to pierce through it and no mortal visitor to this layer has returned from a new moon.
