Ketamain Mountains

Geography

The Ketamain Mountains are a long range of large mountain peaks along the western edge of Aelvar. They border with the Vivican Ocean, and run all the way from the North to the South of Aelvar. The Highest Mountains are in the north, and from there a long river called the Ketamain Flow runs parallel to the ocean, finally connecting to it half way down the realm.

Fauna & Flora

The Ketamain Mountains are home to mostly Mountain Dwarves, who reside in tribal villages along both sides of it. These Dwarves have colonised under the mountains too, and have built a great tunnel system throughout the mountain range. Many minotaurs, humans and goblins also live in this region, as it is almost entirely devoid of Elvish presence. The Ketamain Mountains don't grow many plants or crops though, as the environment is too harsh and rugged for such delicate life. Only some crops like wheat and grain can be grown at lower elevations in larger Dwarvish villages. Many wild animals also live in these mountains, like Bulls, Goats and Sheep, making it ideal for the Dwarves to hunt in during the winter.

Natural Resources

The Northern reaches of the Ketamain Mountain contain many ore veins such as Iron, Gold and Platinum, while ores like Copper and Tin are found all the way through. A great expanse of Coal lies in the south, of which only about 10 percent has been mined so far. Few trees grow in the mountains, but there are thick forests at the base of the range for those who can expand a little further to collect wood. Plants grow very rarely, but special farms are set up by some Dwarvish tribes to grow Wheat and Grain. Much meat can be found throughout the rocky peaks like Mutton, Bull and Beef, but sometimes traders and raiders bring extra foods and resources that the locals can make use of.
