Ael

The overgod of Aels

Ael, The One Above All, First Watcher

Ael, also called the One Above All and First Watcher, is an overgod, and the ambassador on behalf of the Outsider responsible for the initial creation of our realms, to which he gave his own name. It was he who created the crystal sphere and filled it with Primordial Essence, besides having planted the Primal Seed that would give birth to the Five Sisters. He is a mysterious entity, which almost never reveals itself, but extremely powerful, transcending even the concepts of good and evil, or order and chaos that reign over Aels.   The creator of the realms never interferes with the affairs of deities, let alone mortals. He so renounces these activities that we would probably never know of his existence were it not for his appearance in the Age of Chaos after the Bond. It is believed that he prefers to keep his existence secret for mortal eyes.   Overcoming the limits of the rank of deities, the overgod does not care and does not need the worship of mortals or deities, and remains only observing everything that happens at Aels, ensuring that none of the cosmological laws are broken.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Although not considered a sacred book, the Book of Ael, written by the overgod himself and engraved in the minds of the Nine Nobles, presents the cosmological laws that must be obeyed by all mortals, deities, and overdeities. Moreover, in this book, Ael tells the whole story of the realms before the Bond, lost in memory and in the confused minds of those left in chaos, and speaks of the Bond itself, what it was, and what its consequences were for Aels.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

The overgod of our realms has shown himself physically only once throughout the history of Aels, during the Great Council in the Age of Chaos. During these days, though he was in his physical form, considered the weakest of the deities, Ael made his superiorly divine nature very plain.   He was always very imposing, making it clear that he was in control of everything and that everyone should be submissive to his orders, even without saying a word. His expression did not change at any moment, and his sober face always imposed the respect due him. Like other overdeities, Ael did not stand in any discussion and only gave the final verdict to all decisions made during the council.   When, at last, he quoted the new cosmological laws, his grave and powerful voice resounded everywhere in Aels, like thunder and the noise of many waters. To this day his voice echoes in the minds of the Nine Nobles, never allowing them to forget the unbreakable laws of the realms.

Body Features

During the Great Council, Ael introduced himself as a middle-aged man, about 20 feet (67 meters) tall. His skin was pale pink, his chest bare, and he wore a black cloak on which you could see endless stars and comets as if space itself were in those robes.

Facial Features

The overgod’s face had a short dark beard, and his hair was split in half, down to chin height, the same color as his beard. The eyes had no orbs, but the very infinity of the universe, like its mantle, perhaps even more paralyzing.   On the Decision Day, Ael proved even greater than his first form in the skies. Only his face appeared, translucent in the clouds on that clear day. His face was so large that if he were full-body, a whole planet would fit in the palm of his hands. Some still believe that he can hold even our entire crystal sphere in his hands given the immensity of his power.

Special abilities

No one has ever known the true extent of his powers, but it is believed that Ael can control everything at his will and that not even all the deities of the realms combined are parachutes before his magnificent power. Moreover, being the overgod responsible for the original creation of Aels, it is also believed that not even the other overdeities have as much power as he.   Much is speculated as to where the energy of an overgod originates, and some believe it comes from the Outsider himself. Some cite the crystal sphere as the source of his power, while some believe that the dome is only one of the overgod’s creations.
