Zyrelle Duskbane

Unlike her half-sister, the Queen, Zyrelle Duskbane does not resemble a trueborn heir of House Duskbane. Her unnaturally pale skin, violet eyes, and silken purple hair set her apart, marking her as something… other. The stark contrast between her ethereal appearance and the dark, brooding features typical of House Duskbane has been a source of endless whispers and speculation within the court. Though she possesses all the cunning and ambition expected of a Duskbane, she has never been fully embraced by her kin—viewed as a bastard in all but name, even her father keeps her at arm's length while training her to be useful to the House, dangling acceptance before her.

Trained in stealth, intrigue, and subtlety, Zyrelle has learned to mask her emotions behind an unreadable façade. Her education was deliberately different from her siblings - while they learned swordplay in the courtyard, she studied poison craft in hidden chambers. While they attended grand feasts, she learned to move silently through secret passages. While her half-siblings are groomed for open leadership, she has been relegated to the shadows, meant to serve as a political tool rather than a true power in her own right. But she has other plans.

7264 Update

Thanks to the influence of the Fatebound Zyrelle's life has changed dramatically. She was once a lonely child, well on her way to a dark life of thievery and perhaps worse. The Fatebound invited her among them and she began to slowly open up. Isobel Marbrant taught her how to fight and about what it meant to have honor and be a knight and a protector. These lessons resonated with Zyrelle, especially when she remembered meeting Garran Caerthall and his lesson and "the sword and the shield" and what they symbolized. She made peace with Braeden, became a Fatebound and is now on the path of an honorable warrior, much to her own surprise.

On the personal side, she is surprised by Vaelion's interest in her and his gift of a violet nightgown deeply touched her. She is unsure how to handle this as her instinct is still to wait for this all to be some cruel trick. She knows Vaelion would not do that to her but it is hard to fight against her own history.

Update 2

After the events at Emberbrook, Zyrelle's life has once again changed. In particular, the surprising events with her aunt Theryn Duskbane have left an impact on her. She has not made a secret of her disdain for her entire family and yet her aunt willingly yielded during the fight to determine the fate of Ser Caldrin Valehart. Even more shocking she gifted Zyrelle with her own personal bastard sword saying that a Duskbane should be armed with an appropriate weapon instead of the "servicable" sword Zyrelle had. Before parting ways she told Zyrelle that she was "not as useless as I had been led to believe" which is, sadly, the kindest thing anyone in her family has ever sai
