Fairies

Fairies ("Echoes of the First Song")

Note: Fairies are not available to player characters.

Fairies are not descendants of the fey but primordial beings of magic, existing since the world's earliest days. Much like dragons, fairies are woven from raw magic, their essence tied to the ley lines that crisscross Aeloria. Though they resemble graceful humans with dragonfly-like wings, they are immortal in age but not invincible—injury or powerful magic can still end their existence.

Never seen in the modern world, fairies once betrayed the world, along with dragons, and attempted to assist the Void God Yth'Zathir in conquering Aeloria. For this, they were hunted much like dragons and many mortals now believe them to be extinct.

One of the most unusual traits of fairies is their emotional resonance with the world. If overwhelmed by grief, despair, or sorrow, a fairy may enter a torpor-like state, retreating into an enchanted slumber that can last centuries or even millennia. Only a profound shift in magic or emotion—such as witnessing true joy, love, or an urgent call to purpose—can awaken them.

  • Common Traits: Naturally magical, deeply connected to emotions and the world’s balance. Their wings allow for graceful flight, though they are fragile compared to other races.
  • Typical Roles: Enchanters, healers, wandering sages, or lost guardians of forgotten places.
  • Lifespan: Immortal, but can be slain. Those lost to sorrow may sleep for ages.
