Dragon

Dragons are powerful, magical creatures that are often depicted as large, serpentine or reptilian beings with wings and the ability to use a breath weapon They are known for their great intelligence and their ability to use magic. There are many different kinds of dragons, each with its own unique characteristics and abilities. Some dragons are benevolent and protectors of the natural world, while others are malevolent and seek to cause destruction and chaos.   Dragons are often depicted as hoarding treasure and living in great caves or lairs, where they keep their hoard of gold and other valuable objects. They are also known for their love of riddles and puzzles, and are often depicted as challenging those who seek their treasure to solve riddles or complete tasks in order to earn their favor. Dragons are revered as powerful, wise beings and are seen as symbols of strength and magic. However, they are also feared for their great power and their ability to cause destruction.

Subraces

Chromatic Dragons:

Chromatic dragons embody the darker aspects of dragonkind. With a reputation for cunning and malevolence, they are known for their chromatic-colored scales, which range from vibrant reds and blues to eerie greens and sinister blacks. These dragons are driven by their own desires for power, greed, and domination.   Each type of chromatic dragon corresponds to a specific elemental affinity. For instance, red dragons wield the power of fire, blue dragons control the winds and lightning, green dragons manipulate nature and poison, and so on. Fierce and territorial, they jealously guard their lairs and hoards of treasure.

Metallic Dragons:

In contrast, metallic dragons exemplify noble and virtuous qualities. Their scales shimmer with metallic hues, such as brilliant gold, radiant silver, and ethereal bronze. These dragons embody benevolence, wisdom, and compassion, and they often seek to protect and guide mortal races.   Like their chromatic counterparts, metallic dragons possess elemental affinities, but they are more inclined towards using their powers for benevolent purposes. For instance, gold dragons exude a divine presence and offer guidance, while silver dragons are champions of justice and guardians of truth.

Lung Dragons:

Beyond the familiar territories of chromatic and metallic dragons, the continent of Kyotora is home to the enigmatic lung dragons. These creatures are bestowed with divine touch, granted by the celestial realm known as Tian. Lung dragons hold a divine right to rule, which makes them highly revered in Kyotora's culture.   Unlike the territorial nature of chromatic and metallic dragons, lung dragons are often seen as wise and benevolent rulers, guiding their subjects with divine wisdom and grace. Their connection to Tian empowers them with mystical abilities, and they are revered as embodiments of celestial blessings.

Civilization and Culture

History

In the annals of Aeloria's history, dragons emerged as creations of the malevolent chaos serpent, Apep. Initially, they were known as chromatic dragons and embodied malevolence. Dominating the land with their oppressive rule, they posed a grave threat to mortal life, causing devastation and destruction. To counterbalance the destructive influence of the chromatic dragons, the god Ak intervened and crafted the metallic dragons. These benevolent creatures were imbued with nobility, wisdom, and compassion. They emerged with scales of precious metals, and their purpose became protecting mortal life and maintaining balance in the realms.   As the metallic dragons rose to prominence, they engaged in fierce battles with the chromatic dragons to safeguard the realms and protect the innocent from their malevolence. Their presence brought a new era of balance and protection for the mortal races. In the far eastern continent of Kyotora, the Jade Emperor, a god of benevolence, created the divine lung dragons. Endowed with divine right, these majestic beings ruled Kyotora, guiding and nurturing mortal inhabitants with wisdom, justice, and grace.
