Avatars, Warlocks, and Blackguards
These are titles given to some of the most powerful mortal servants of the Dark God.
A Blackguard (BLAA-gerd) is a champion of evil either raised into or corrupted and brought to the dark side: they are essentially anti-paladins, trained in both martial and magical arts in whatever way will serve them best.
While the word "warlock" is a general term, "Warlock" with a capital W - or a "Warlock of the Dark God" - is usually what comes to mind for the people of Aelladore. Every so often, the Dark God will invest a special mortal with It's fell powers and give them a certain task that should aid in the completion of It's ultimate goal; sometimes, these mortals can come from a rumored other world and seem to be given the impression that Aelladore is not real or is simply inconsequential since it is not their true home.
An Avatar of the Dark God is a unique entity created by It's design whenever It feels that the time to once again fight Aelladore for the existence of the universe is nigh. Every Avatar in recorded history - also known as a Prince or Princess of Darkness, or a Dark Messiah - has been a completely different person every time, similarly varied from one to the next like demons, but with everything turned up to the eleventh degree.
