Aetherite & Star Metal (eh-THAYR-ite)

Aetherite

Aetherite is a heavy black ore with tones of navy blue; Aetherite is very rare, usually only found either deep beneath the earth or in the form of meteors that fall from the heavens.
Aetherite can be refined into a valuable metal referred to as Star Metal. For many reasons, Star Metal is very difficult to come by, but if one can get their hands on it, then weapons, armor, and other objects can be made out of it which are imbued with a strength and durability unlike any other.

Star Metal

Star Metal is the refined form of Aetherite; it is a shiny black metal which has a noticeable purple sheen to it. Its mystical properties make it both lightweight and nearly indestructible.
Due to the fact that Aetherite is so rare and that Star Metal is so useful, Star Metal is one of the most valuable metals on Aelladore, if not the most valuable metal: there are few people who wouldn't do almost anything to get their hands on it, given the opportunity.
When Aetherite is smelted into Star Metal, it produces azure flames with an intense heat akin to dragonfire: these flames are called Veil Fire.
Strangely enough, an exceedingly rare few pyromancers happen to produce Veil Fire instead of normal flames when they use pyromancy. Lotiel - the goddess of magic - is one such example.
Star Metal can be alloyed; when it is alloyed, it is commonly alloyed with Cobalt. This alloy is called Cobalt Star Metal, and it dramatically increases the flexibility of Star Metal at a negligible cost to weight and durability. Cobalt Star Metal has a blue sheen instead of a purple sheen.
