Earth Arcana

Life ends on a black veil. It is full of stars and infinite wonders, another dream to begin.
There is no end to the Dream. There is no escape, only a path to an elsewhere painted in other colors. Those who die there roam still, joyful, dreaming once more. Look, they are here, they sing.

The Earth Arcana is a technique to ever so slightly breach the gap between the waking world and the Invisible, where Ghosts and Curses reside. It allows one to peek into this other world and interact with it. Earth Arcanists can then talk to Ghosts, see the flow of Aer around them and even, given the sufficient know-how, exorcize the Curses found there.

The Invisible appears atop the waking world in transluscent blue, pink and purple hues. Ghosts keep the appearance they had when they died, in washed out colors and seemingly "leaking" small flames of pure Aer. Curses usually take the form of insect-like creatures of varying sizes oozing the same flames of Aer.
Noykes were the ones to discover this Arcana, and it has become a big part of their culture throughout the years. For a while, it was extremely common to teach it to kids so that they could meet the Ghosts of their ancestors and get named by them. Today, this naming tradition tends to slowly disappears. However, a large portion of the Noykes population is still taught the Earth Arcana from a young age.

Being able to perform exorcisms is the main component of this Arcana, and many of its users have over time formed exorcist groups dedicated to help people afflicted with Curses all over the continent. The biggest of these organization, the Dreaming Cross, is split into many branches each specializing in some panel of Curses. There is as many ways to practice this Arcana than there are Curses to exorcize, thus it is advised to young Arcanists too seek tutelage in one of these groups.
There is absolutely no limits to the complexity of any given exorcism : each Curse is like a problem to be solved in itself and it is the exorcist's duty to figure out how to actually proceed with it. To aid in this task, many books of Curses have been compiled over the years, cataloguing known Curses and the ways to deal with them, as well as drawing parallels between those that are similar. A good knowledge of actual medecine is also needed to make a good exorcist, as many Curses are deeply tied to physical ailments and treating one can sometimes instantly cure the other.
After an exorcism is performed, the Arcanist can either free the Aer of the Curse or the Ghost, so that it may rejoin the natural cycle, or keep it for themselves. In this case, the exorcist's flame is slightly tainted to the color of the Ghost's or the Curse's Aer, meaning that frequent exorcisms can cause one's flame to change radically over time and thus allow the exorcist to devellop new abilities.
