Preparing for a D&D session can be an exciting thing. Metric tons of exciting, interesting, dangerous monsters fill the various monster books, ready to endanger your PCs. Descriptions of some of the monsters inspire thoughts of convoluted plots and intricate mazes of death. Unfortunately, for many monsters, their actual abilities are pretty boring. When it comes down to it, the only really difference between a lion and a girallion is how many dice you roll when they attack. After awhile, the monsters can start to feel repetitive, despite the exciting descriptions in the monster books. And here is the kicker: monsters aren't just stat blocks. They are the DM's characters! As a dungeon master, the closest thing you get to your own character is the monsters! If these monsters are boring for you to play, they are boring for your players to fight. Welcome to Inspirational Encounters, where we take the boring D&D monsters and use them as sources for inspiration to create an exciting encounter that even the DM can enjoy! What's more, these encounters are designed to be tweaked to your heart's content in a process we like to call "Season to Taste"! Once the encounter is satisfactory toward your needs, feel free to use it in your own campaign! And let us know how it went, and what seasoning you used, in the comments! So come on in and get those creative gears oiled up. Let's build an encounter!
