    Shield Feats

    Changes From Default

  • Your shield is always "raised" while wielded, granting its defense bonus.
  • When you first use the shield's defense bonus each turn, it only applies to attacks from that direction until the start of your next turn. (Shield Block allows you to move it too).
  • Anyone can use a Reaction to use Shield Block (below).
  • Shield Block (Reaction)

Trigger: you are about to take damage from something that your shield can block.
Effect: you interpose your shield to block the damage. The shield suffers half the damage (rounded up) for you, subtracting its Hardness from that damage. If the shield is broken by this (reducing to 0 HP), any excess damage applies to you as normal.

    Reactive Shield

Trigger: an enemy has just failed or Critically Failed a melee attack against you.
Effect: if the attack was a failure, it becomes a Critical Failure. If it was a Critical Failure, the next successful attack against them this round becomes a Critical Hit.
