Half-Orcs

An Excerpt From The Diversity of Species

Born of the decidedly unusual, though not unheardof, union between an orc and another species, the umbrella term of half-orc refers to a wide variety of creatures that often surprises the uninitiated.

Orcs and Humans

By far the most common combination, due to the mutual ubiquitousness of the two species, a union of orc and human produces a distinctive creature that is most commonly known as a half-orc. What most people do not realize is that certain aspects of half-orc biology are dependent on which parent was the orc.

Morks

A portmanteau of old common for "mann ork", morks are born from a human father and an orc mother. Morks are mostly human in appearance, bearing only a slight resemblance to their orcish mother. Some may have tusks, greenish skin, or an unusally tall or brawny bone structure, others simply have an orc's vertically slitted eyes that glow in the dark like a cat's eyes.

Spooks

A harsh naming originally used by orcs and humans alike to deride the relatively strange looking creatures that result from an orcish father and a human mother. Spooks have since embraced the name and its implications. Whether by natural maliciousness or societal pressure, spooks have a strong leaning toward maliciousness and capriciousness. They often use their strange looks and reputations as leverage for intimidation or other persuits. Of course, as with any large group of people, not all spooks lean into their reputation, and many work very hard to lessen the stigmas associated with their kin.   Spooks resemble nothing so much as shrunken, misshapen orcs. They have mostly orc features, but with shrunken, lean torsos that make their other limbs and head seem overlarge and bulbous. Despite their strange structure, spooks are highly nimble and their bulbous limbs support significant strength.
