Personal History
Kaensael was born in a humble village in the darkside district of the living moon. Her mother left soon after her birth, she was a traveler and an infant would've only slowed her down. Her father, Oreaes, never begrudged her mother he understood her nature before he had asked her to carry his child.
For most of her early life Kaensael lived in that village, a hard life but one she enjoyed. Her father worked as a skilled craftsman, she helped him when needed and tended the comunal farms when not. The predictable nature of her world was shattered a little after she turned fourteen and came into her magic. That would've been uncommon enough but as she would find out her particular kind of magic was one only found in noble lines. Specifically a noble line thought lost decades before. When her father fled the crystal castle.
After the discovery of her magic her life got significantly more complicated. Her father refused to return to the crystal castle, for reasons of his own, but he didn't want his choices to influence hers. Her magic and her place in the castle were hers by birthright. It would be a hard life he warned, she would be behind on all social learnings, the other nobles would likely be unkind. He advised her to think about it but to do so quickly if they needed to hide her magic then they would have to act quickly.
Though she was only fourteen the idea of hiding any part of herself away chafed. Still the prospect of the life her father painted wasn't ideal either. It was hard to picture the life of finery and political dances that he explained to her, yet it also held an appeal she couldn't deny. She decided to travel to the crystal castle and see what life as a noble had to offer.
The journey was long and hard, taking nearly a year. She learned a lot during that time, her father hiring a traveling party with a tutor both for magic and noble manners. By the time she got to the city she was far more confident that she made the right choice. Her arrival and bloodline cause quite the stir, as did her life before the city. Many calling her a backwater noble who had no rightful claim to her titles. She ignored anything not said to her face and enjoyed a verbal sparring session with those bold enough to say anything to her directly.
She finishes her schooling with top marks and plenty of politically advantageous friendships. Her plans after schooling are to reclaim the lands that belong to her bloodline however those plans are interrupted when the King and Queen announce the chosen bride for the crown prince, Alylath, their only child. Per tradition the ruling family chooses their childrens spouses on a rotating line of their noble's children. Choosing first based on the family that is next in line, if that family doesn't have a child of similar age to the Prince or Princess in question then the next family is eligible and so on. Kaensael's line had obviously been skipped over years prior as there was no one to claim their right. Which puts her at the top the list.
She marries the crown prince. The noble family that thought their daughter would be the next queen doesn't take that well. Shortly after the wedding there is an assassination attempt on the entire royal family, the king and queen don't survive. She defends herself and her new husband and not a week after they wed they are coronated as King and Queen of the living moon. They rule together for nearly two years before he succumbs to a life long illness and she becomes the sole ruler of the Living Moon.

- Like all nobles Kaensael has a birthmark of her family line, her families is on the inside of their left wrist. A small redish mark that could almost look like a candle flame.
