The Authority of Aegisin

Founding

The powerful city of Aegisin was founded, and proceeded to become Aedar's first true superpower.

Aegisin, first founded by the brilliant Anthol Aegisin, served as the realm's first true meritocracy. A government founded on the philosophy that those who can accomplish and innovate should be in charge. Not just the strongest or most able, but truly those who can change the world through their creativity.   This new government attracted many people to Aegisin, all of them having something to prove. Be it a tactical mind ready to be tested, a powerful mage wanting allies to learn from, or a wise philosopher wanting equal minds to theorize with. Because of all this, Aegisin quickly became a civilization to be reckoned with, and eventually became the world's first superpower.   Aegisin led the world in the fields of technology and the arcane. They revolutionized ways of thinking, and were insistent on doing all of this without the aid of any Deities. The accomplishments of Aegisin would be of the people alone, not of the gods.   Controversially, they also saw it fit to begin to expand their influence. Aegisin outposts began cropping up throughout Aedar, supplying magic and stability. Many saw this as a welcome sign of peace and an easier lifestyle, while others saw this as a threat to their land and their way of life. Regardless, this is why the language "Common" is used almost everywhere, because Aegisin spread it as their language of choice.
