Colourful Shades

The largest of the city’s three main residential areas, the Shades occupy the entire eastern side of the outer ring as well as one of the segments of the inner ring of the city's structure. The eastern side of the city was heavily damaged during the Lullaby War and as a result the Shades saw the brunt of the impact. Very few of the glass structures making up Estea remain, and none of the glass bridges seen in the rest of the city survived the war. The Shades are built of stone and wood and mortar, painted in bright colours to mimic the rest of the city. This is where the ‘common folk’ live and make their living - dockworkers, manual laborers, shady taverns and seedy brothels and run-down orphanages.
