SB-1 Midnight

The SB-1 was the first ever true military stealth plane by modern standards. Designed by the Pertorian Commonwealth, these planes were classified for almost 4 years after their first production and likely would have remained as such for much longer had the Pertorian economy began to collapse in the late 80's, forcing them to sell the deisgn as well as many others to foreign powers.

Propulsion

2 heat shielded afterburning jet turbines propel this craft to supersonic speeds, though cruising is often best accomplished without afterburners for maximal stealth relating to heat signature as well as fuel consumption. Air intake grates on the front are designed specifically to reflect radar, with smaller gaps as well as the inside material and grates themselves being comprised of radar obsorbant materials. Fuel is stored in the wings as well as main body of the craft, with optional additional fuel compartments avaliable in lieu of a percentage of payload in the bomb bays.

Weapons & Armament

Internal bomb bays carry unguided bombs standard, with up to a 5,000 lb maximum payload. The pilots must be careful when opening bomb bay doors, as this greatly increase the craft's radar signature.

Armor and defense

The entire plane is coated with radar obsorbant paint, as well as the shape of the fuselage being optimized for radar deflection. In addition, an internal flare launcher inside the bombay can be utilized in an emergency.
