Konshu-Class Battleship

In the late 1920s the Imperial Toknaagi Navy began to expand its area of operations and therefore needed more capital ships. This began a process of discussions and political maneuvering that continued well into the 1930s to get the government to allow for naval expansion. Eventually it was decided to create a series of flagships to show off the might of Toknaagi and to convince the government of what money could buy. In 1939 the plans for what was then called “Shigan Konshu Kendo” or “Battleship of imperial power” first came into the hands of Admiral Hiroshi Kensokuo. He was put in charge of the project and quickly began modifying and designing the final draft. The ship would displace 48,000 Tons and would have a top speed of 26 Knots. 9x 16.5in guns in three triple turrets would make up the main battery while numerous 5in to 8in guns dotted the side deck and superstructure amidship. The ship also sported 12x quad 35mm AA guns and many more smaller machine guns. 10 ships of this class were initially ordered however pricing and material costs allowed for the first and only three ships to be laid down… Shigan Konshu in 1939, Shigan Goya in 1940, and Shigan Hoji in 1940. Additionally a following two hulls were laid down at the start of the Twelve years war, one of which, The Shigan Tyimo was converted into the fleet carrier Koshin Tyimo and the second hull, Shigan Hondo was never completed and was eventually Sunk as a block ship. These three ships action throughout most of the war in various theaters but the most famous action is when the Shigan Goya met APS Empire, East of Sambor less than two weeks into the war, their battle lasted 3 hours and by the end the Shigan Goya was at the bottom of the Sejuk Channel. Throughout the war all three ships and the Carrier Tyimo were all Sunk at Differing times. The Shigan Goya was Sunk in April 1943 as previously mentioned, the Shigan Hoji was Sunk at the beginning of 1948 by New Loétian Torpedo Bombers, The Carrier Koshin Tyimo was lost to a magazine explosion caused by fire from a Torpedo hit from the Acentian Submarine A-410 in June of 1950, and last but not least the Shigan Konshu was lost to naval gunfire from two Acentian battlecruisers (APS Prince of Acentia, APS Victory) in late 1953.
