Dubari Civil War
Political Tensions
The story of the Dubari civil war begins in the early 1910s when the Nation was still under the infamous Sultan Artur Kaito II. Near the end of his reign he decreed that all trade income, foreign and domestic would have a percentile tax that would go directly to the Crown. This was wildly unpopular and led to many instances of illegal trade and smuggling. Due to the nations zero tolerance for crime, many innocent farmers were outright shot for attempting to feed their families. This eventually led to the revolt of 1912 that would depose the Sultan and turn Dubari into a republic. The founding of the new government did help the situation buy the laws weren't really abolished, they were lessened. The divide between city and rural Dubarians was however, already sown. for the next hundred years, the Dubari people would fight for equality in the political world as they continued to be opressed by the republican government as they began to lose 30%, 40%, and upwards of 50% of their income to the government. By the 2010s this poverty gap was at an all time high as the price of groceries and fuel skyrocketed as income declined. The government attempted to save the economy by raising taxes on the lower classes even higher until in 2013 when the Dubari economy collapsed. All hell broke loose as money quickly became worthless and the Farmers and lower classes rioted in the streets and flooded into the cities to find better work. Poverty and homelessness was rampant as the cities became saturated with rural immigrants. With no farmers working the fields the country fell into famine and violence over food and all seemed lost. That is until a group of communist politicians and soldiers started becoming popular, known as "The Laborist Militia". This party would become extremely popular among the farmers and laborers of Dubari and soon the Laborist Militia was actually a militia. by 2017 the group had more than 22.2 million members across Dubari and a standing "security force" of 9,000 soldiers. in early 2018 the nation's elections would be held, and the Labor Party (as they had been renamed) was finally large enough to be on the ballot. The election was clearly fraudulent and the Republican government won with a clear majority despite half the nation being registered as part of the Labor Party. Again more riots and more violence occurred before Laborist politicians in the senate proposed the deeply controversial proposition of Secession. In their bill, the entire southern (Rural) half of Dubari would Secede and become the Dubari Civil Union. This motion was almost instantly dismissed however for the next 7 months it would be proposed again and again until on November 1st, 2018, this bill was again proposed. This time However, the Laborists that proposed it were declared Treasonous and as soldiers entered the senate chambers to arrest these politicians, a local Laborist News camera filmed the entire thing. They filmed on as the four men were dragged outside and shot in the street. More than 2.7 Million people watched on live TV as this happened. Riots insued in the next hours and everyone went to bed that night knowing nothing in their nation would ever be the same again."Democracy Has Failed us"
As the sun rose on November 2nd, a speech was given by a young poet and avid believer in the Laborist party gave a speech that would stir the hearts of millions, a speech that would directly lead to one of the deadliest wars in modern history. 27 year old Edward Park would unknowingly give the speech that became the warcry of the Revolution."Brothers and sisters of Dubari, Today we gather not as scattered farmers, workers, and laborers, but as a united force—bound by our suffering, our toil, and our determination to break the chains of oppression. For too long, we have carried the weight of a government that grows fat on our labor, while we starve in the fields and streets. Look around you. Do you see prosperity in the cities? Do you see freedom in the villages? What has this so-called republic brought us but hunger, misery, and death? We rose once before against the tyrants of old, believing their crowns were the source of our pain. But democracy has failed us. It promised equality, yet delivered only new masters. It promised liberty, yet shamed us for seeking justice. These lies have been carved into our backs by the whip of greed, and we are told to bow before the altar of their false republic. No more! We, the workers of Dubari, will take what is ours by the sweat of our brows and the strength of our unity. This land belongs to us—the builders of its roads, the planters of its fields, the lifeblood of its factories. We will no longer beg for scraps from their table. We will overturn it! They call us traitors because we dare to dream of a better future. They execute our comrades in the streets to make us afraid. But I tell you, their fear of us is far greater! For they know that the laborer, the farmer, the soldier united is unstoppable. Tonight, I call on you to rise. Rise from your fields, your workshops, your homes. Take up the tools of your trade as weapons of liberation. The flames of our resistance will light the way to a new Dubari—a Dubari where no child goes hungry, where no worker is cast aside, and where no leader lives above the people. The revolution begins now. Together, we will build a future where democracy’s betrayal is but a memory and justice reigns eternal. The chains are broken—let the fight for our freedom begin!"Immediately following this speech, nearly 11,000 Laborists including almost 300 Laborist soldiers began their March across the city to the government plaza where they were met by 800 government soldiers and a few tanks. The situation quickly devolved as the already violent crowd started to attack the soldiers with rocks, bricks, and even molotov cocktails. The Government soldiers attempted to hold the line as waves of angry citizens attempted to break through. After 9 hours of Rioting, things began to calm, that is until a government soldier attempted to desert to the side of the Laborists and was shot by his comrades. Several soldiers had opened fire on the man and several rounds struck demonstrators, killing 2. The crowed roared in anger and surged forward to assault the government forces.Edward Park, Age 27 November 2nd, 2018
