The universe is born, starting with the infinite darkness that is the Void.

The universe is born, the empty Void is all that exists.   The Void is a strangely horrifying place. Being there makes no sense, while simultaneously makes perfect sense. There is no surface to walk on, yet you can walk. No air to breathe, yet you can breathe. No gravity to pull you, yet you can fall.   The Void is also incredibly unstable, the energies it embodies are always shifting and changing. There are many souls here, uncountably many, empty wisps that hold no body or semblance of life. They fly around in the nothingness, some collecting into larger souls, but no matter how hard they try, they have no body to imbue.
