Life, Death
The King Gallaroth grows incredibly suspicious of the Council's doings outside of his knowledge. He escapes his chambers and seeks the Orb deep in the vaults. It would go on to consume him...
During his time inside his chambers, Gallaroth grew very suspicious of the council’s doings. He bludgeoned the guard unconscious and snuck out into the castle vault where the kingdom's main treasure was, the Orb. Gallaroth let it consume him and he learnt much from it, such as dark magic and how to cast spells without using an external vessel as a conduit. He would make frequent trips to the treasure over time learning more and more. Until one day, with a blistering hot knife, Gallaroth burned a symbol into his hand so he would not have to draw it out again, enduring immense agony to make sure it was permanently etched into his palm. The guard could no longer hold his silence and three members of the Council came to confront him, but with the symbol in his hand and the rage that had built up in Gallaroth throughout this time, they were all murdered on the spot for disagreeing with him.
Gallaroth went to see the rest of the council and before he entered he heard them plotting to kill Photrin, the only member of the council who was remorseful for the actions of the council and was going to tell the king about their lies (Photrin was the only one who didn’t want to go ahead with the plan in the first place) and how the King must still be convinced that the plague is in Nobolia. Photrin left the council room to avoid any further conflicts just as Gallaroth enters. The council went to arms to fight the king but were all killed in the process, Photrin later saw the dead bodies and knew the king was not in his chambers so he fled to Asceroth. Gallaroth then carved a symbol on his left hand this one being a hemispherical barrier of darkness enduring the same pain as the time he did the other one.
When Gallaroth went to restart his reign the whole kingdom despised him as they were starving, overworked and underpaid and crime was everywhere and every decision the council made the public thought the King made.
