Dave reawakens from his "coma" after 210 years. He finds Barrodor in ruins and his last memory is the failure of the ritual so he feels his actions were catastrophic.

When Dave finally awoke, he found Barrodor in ruins. He was partially buried under rubble but found he was not injured. He looked around desperately but nobody was there, at least, not anymore. He felt he had failed - and catastrophically at that. His punishment for the ritual was to miss the life he had, and the world he had. Dave did not know how long he was unconscious for, but is distraught and goes out looking for answers.

He finds out the Barrodor disappeared essentially overnight in a mysterious tragedy…that happened over two centuries ago. He is ashamed he wasn’t there to serve his king or help his friends. More than that, he is confused about how he is even alive. Something wasn't right.
