Srevena
The srevena is a a large fruit similar to the shape of a pear, each fruit is usually around 13cm long (stem to bottom) and 9cm wide. It's colour varies slightly but is usually a purple with light blue markings around the top and bottom of the fruit. These markings have some bioluminescent properties, glowing softly in the dark. Naturally, the fruit has many seeds and lacks much flesh. Once the Raxarians settled Nyet Yem, they bred the fruit to have more flesh, grow faster and to have greater yields. This was necessary as the fruit was initially poor for farming, but due to its habitat being the caves, it was the perfect fruit to utilise since growing crops outside on the plateaus was significantly harder.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
The seeds of the plant did not spread easily. The fruit had many seeds, but would often not be able to germinate due to the state of the stone and lack of resources. As a result, it is very rare.
Growth Rate & Stages
The plant has very thick and strong roots that drill themselves into the rock to securely anchor it to the surface. This also allows it to grow from the roof or walls of the cave, if seeds were able to get there. The plant grows incredibly slowly, only reaching its full stage after around 12 years, and only then does it start to produce fruit which themselves take another 2-3 years to fully ripen. A usual yield only has 2 fruits, though some plants that are in better positions have been known to naturally grow up to 5.
Ecology and Habitats
Due to the nature of the plants, it can pretty much only grow in caves, using the damp walls and slightly humid air for most of its water. It has evolved to require very little water and to grow in dark caves so it would either drown in too much water outside or dry out and wither in the sunlight.
