Natural Flow
Magic is a very well known part of the world, though there are few who can master it. The magic comes from a fundamental law of Adremesis called the "Natural Flow".
The Natural Flow is the movement of energy in the universe that is often interpreted by lifeforms as the will of the universe, and, as a force inexorable to beings who try to master it. The Natural Flow, whilst metaphysical, can be manipulated by those around it, these small-scale manipulations are what many know as magic. The ability to manipulate the Flow is not shared by all though. Only those able to connect to the Flow are able to harness and then channel it to release energy. The Flow can be channelled in many ways: constant change in the direction of Flow, a physical channel for it to travel through or the presence of items for it to flow around. Distinguished individuals may also be able to stop the Flow in certain places, though this power is hard to nurture and even harder to execute but it will lead to natural occurrences that depend on the Flow to temporarily cease. This act renders all magic useless in the affected area, however, this is very demanding on the soul and thus can not be sustained for long. Whilst it can be manipulated, the Flow has no master. Those who try to dominate the Flow fail with catastrophic consequences to themselves. It shall never stop for an individual, nor will it help those in need. The Flow shall eternally move ever-forward regardless of those it loses along the way. The Natural Flow is not destiny though, there are many different paths it could flow to, but actions of the individuals cause it to travel down a certain path, this property means that there can be no such thing as destiny but also means that what is done cannot be undone.
