Diabolous (/dʌɪabɘlɘs/)

The Diaboli are a species in which their body holds dominion over the soul, as a result, the body uses their soul as a fuel, essentially burning through it until they eventually destroy it, but luckily for them, they are able to ensare free-floating souls around them into their body to use it as fuel as well, though this trait usually manifests itself as the diabolous absorbing the soul of the victim they have just murdered.
The Diaboli were first formed in 1622 BFB upon a surge of energy hit the 'Devil's Eye Land' in the north-west of Adremesis, with the presence of the Orb giving life to the surrounding area.

Anatomy

The diaboli are humanoid creatures, though very deformed, but they have the ability to shapeshift into the bodies that the souls inside of them were once bonded to, this allows them to seamlessly integrate into human society for their survival.

Some, but not all Diaboli are named at birth, but most Diaboli give themselves a name that they refer to themselves as.

History

The Diaboli have always been ruthless and unruly, they kill each other to survive but will mainly kill humans if they are nearby. They integrated into human society but humans have always thought of them as a menace and will always try to slay a diabolous.

The diaboli never made a huge mark in history as they they were never particularly organised to commit any major atrocities. Despite this, they were ever present and caused trouble to human civilisation during their whole existence.

Historical Figures

One particular diabolous, he simply goes by the name of 'Diabolous' as he is the last of his kind, travelled to Nobolia and fought with the Lord of Chaos, losing to him. The Lord recruited the diabolous for his plan, however, and that diabolous has been loyal to the Lord ever since.
This diabolous destroyed the entire kingdom of Barrodor over a couple of weeks almost single-handedly because the Lord told him to. Later, the Diabolous was tasked in 12 AFB to eliminate remaining diaboli across Adremesis as they were deemed to be too great a threat. This was a test of loyalty and strength for the Diabolous, but he pulled through, the genocide of his species was known as the Great Diaboli Purge, and almost all humans believe there to be no diaboli remaining on Adremesis. The Diabolous continued to wreak feats of havoc across Adremesis, following the Lord's word. He also corrupted the Templar Order, making them far more militarised and he remained in this power until he was killed in 351 AFB by Xavier, Alric, Thaedrin, and Droconos.

Their bodies range form a metalic grey to a dirty white, any marks they have would be from scarring or deformity.
