Mannuqar

Mannuqar is the Demon Lord of Pain, The Grand Executioner, and the First Condemned. Mannuqar leads the Bastille of the Damned, the elaborately decorated and alarmingly beautiful prison of the Abyss where those condemned by the gods that would claim their souls after death are kept alive and tortured for eternity.

Beliefs and Worshippers

Mannuqar takes pleasure in the pain of others and has no sense of boundaries, morality, or loyalty. Mannuqar enjoys seeing others suffer for him and will reward those who perform such evil acts in his name. The worshippers of Mannuqar perform horrific acts of self-mutilation, violence, and torture in the name of their god to earn his favor. Followers are promised power and prestige after death as well as in life, becoming demons of the Abyss after death.

Mannuqar demands his worshippers sacrifice the life of innocents, and once you have there is no turning back. Mannuqar is spiteful and will curse those who spurn him. Healing magic is prohibited for his worshippers, unless they are healing so as to be able to injure again.

Depictions

Mannuqar is depicted as a towering, gaunt figure, his body twisted into a monstrous reflection of suffering and dominance. His skin is a deep, ashen gray, cracked and scarred from countless self-inflicted wounds, with rivulets of molten red light seeping from the fissures like blood and fire. Jagged, barbed chains wrap around his limbs and torso, some embedded directly into his flesh, both as symbols of his dominion over pain and as tools of torment for himself and others.

His face is a grotesque mask of torment and fury, with sharp, elongated features. Twin horns rise jaggedly from his brow, asymmetrical and cracked, as though they were broken and reforged. His mouth is filled with uneven, serrated teeth, and his eyes burn with a sickly, crimson light that seems to draw the gaze of those who dare to meet them.

In his hand, he wields Torment, a whip forged from blackened iron and chain, wrapped with barbs and adorned with screaming faces etched into its surface. His presence is accompanied by a palpable aura of dread, and the air around him carries the faint sound of agonized screams, as if the souls trapped in the Bastille of the Damned resonate with his being.

History

Mannuqar’s origins trace back to the height of the Divine Wars, when the Summer Court descended into infighting and extremism. Once a respected lord among the Fae, Mannuqar’s obsession with the concept of pain as a tool for power and control led him to form a splinter faction of zealots within the Summer Court. These extremists believed that suffering was the ultimate test of will and strength, and that only through pain could one achieve transcendence.

During the chaos of the wars, Mannuqar and his followers grew infamous for their cruelty, inflicting unspeakable torment on mortal and immortal foes alike. His methods were so abhorrent that even his own allies in the Summer Court eventually turned against him, recognizing the danger his unchecked sadism posed to their cause. Cast out from the Fae Courts, Mannuqar found refuge in the Abyss, where he carved out a domain of his own: the Bastille of the Damned. This elaborately constructed prison became his sanctuary and seat of power, where he could indulge his twisted philosophy without interference.

Mannuqar played a pivotal role in shaping the Abyss during the Divine Wars, forging alliances with other exiled gods and organizing its chaotic nature into something more structured. His expertise in punishment and domination earned him the title of The Grand Executioner, and his Bastille became the final destination for those condemned by the Fae Courts or rival gods. The prisoners of the Bastille are kept alive in eternal torment, their suffering fueling Mannuqar’s power and the fearsome reputation of the Abyss.

One of Mannuqar’s most infamous acts was the capture of Kethix, who was imprisoned in the Bastille for centuries during the wars. Mannuqar attempted to break Kethix through endless torture, relishing the challenge of corrupting a being of such strong will. Though Kethix ultimately escaped, the scars of their captivity remain, both on their body and in their soul.
