Forgeborn
With the destruction and scattering of the Drossbeard clan long ago, the secrets of creating living constructs began to proliferate throughout Adragal. In the Tradelands of Chromia especially, it is no longer an uncommon sight to see these constructed beings. Artificers hold their design specifications as their prized possessions, and take extreme precautions to keep the secrets of their craft. In most cultures forgeborn are seen as servants, slaves, and commodities, but some forgeborn are granted freedom, or find themselves free after their master dies. In the harsh lands of Cyrne, no forgeborn are free, they find themselves pressed into service to whomever has the power to lay claim in the region.
Physical Description
A forgeborn’s physical appearance varies widely, depending wholly on the artificer who created them. Goliath clans for example often require their forgeborn to have the clan insignia embossed on their body, while the Church of Talia requires theirs to be painted with the colors of their faith. The base shape of the forgeborn is usually modeled after the people of the region, whether they be goliath, elves, or any other humanoid creature of appropriate size.
Occasionally forgeborn, or their masters, will attach things to their body, such as welding on permanent weapons, additional limbs, or other such non-standard accoutrements. Although the minds of forgeborn do not deteriorate over time, they eventually will die without constant maintenance. The number of artificers capable of maintaining a forgeborn are relatively low, and the fees are high, meaning that most forgeborn will die by their 150th year. It is possible for a forgeborn to live near infinitely, but it is a challenging, complex, expensive, and arduous task.
Personalities
Most forgeborn have fairly subdued personalities, purposefully polite and reserved. Forging a mind is no easy task however, and every forgeborn is at least a little bit different. Occasionally customers will request more personable forgeborn to serve in less traditional ways, such as being a rich child’s playmate, or a wealthy playwright's permanent backup actor.
In the World
Forgeborn are often traded as commodities, and can be found throughout the world. They are especially prevalent in dwarven societies, as well as in eastern Chromia. It is uncommon to see groups of more than three or four forgeborn together, as they are extremely expensive, and few are released to freedom. Cyrne however, prides itself in its forgeborn, and use them as tireless workers for their broken lands. Forgeborn use less of the crucial resources such as food and potable water, and more of the resources that are abundant on Cyrne such as magical metals, and so the dragonborn amass forgeborn, especially warforged.

Forged in the unique and fantastic Life Forge of Erodan, the Warforged are seen as a rare commodity, tireless warriors that can be made and bought. Peacebound
Making up the vast majority of the forgeborn of Adragal, the peacebound are the first to come to mind when mentioning constructs. They are designed for non combat roles, usually for jobs that can take advantage of the forgeborn’s ability to ignore sleep, food, and breath, such as mining, running mail, or underwater repairs. Most peacebound are given the ability to repair themselves to some degree.
Additional Racial Traits

Psiforged
Few know where the psiforged are created, those same Life Forges that are used to construct the psiforged’s kin, the warforged. Most psiforged are created in secret by the Odesseiron Magi to hunt down other psionic beings and dispel psionic threats in Ruberia. The existence of this classification of forgeborn is withheld from the public, although several criminal organizations have managed to create, buy, or liberate a small amount of the psiforged.
Additional Racial Traits
- Psionically Gifted: Psiforged gain the Wild Talent feat.
- Embedded Crystals: Psiforged can use their body as a cognizance crystal, allowing them to store 1 psionic power point within them at 1st level. Every odd level thereafter, they can store 1 additional power point into the crystals of their body. These crystals cannot be targeted separately from them and cannot be disenchanted or suppressed. In all other ways, these crystals act as a single cognizance crystal.
- Natural Psionics: A psiforged with 10 or more charisma can cast Detect Psionics once per day. The DC for this ability is 10 + the power level + Intelligence modifier, and the manifester level is equal to the psiforged’s number of hit dice. If the psiforged gains levels in a manifesting class, they may add Detect Psionics to their list of power’s known.
