The Void War was a three year long conflict that stretched over the lands of Adestra. The two main components were The Order of Truth and The Eternal Council. The spark that started this bloody, one-sided war was The Grayfell Massacre.

At the beginning of the war, The Order took advantage of their newly found application of Void Shard and sought out Council members and active magic users. Settlements and refugee camps were turned to rubble and ash. Magic users, and anyone that would stand in their defence, were cut down with little effort.

Eventually, the Council found that the unwieldy contraptions made to mobilize the Void Shards made them easy to target. Once the shards were destroyed, magic users were able to defend themselves and turn the tide of battle. However, these efforts came far too late. Unfortunate timing coupled with the Council's own stance against violence, especially where magic is involved, ultimately led to their defeat and near succesful genocide.

As a result of this war, magic users today hide their gifts to everyone. You may never know if someone has magic in their blood. Due to this suppression, the magic in people of Adestra has begun to wane. Outside of the large cities and out where The Order's grasp has less influence, magic users still attempt to thrive together in their own secret communities. The few that remain of The Eternal Council refute it's existence and word has spread that their non-violent beliefs have withered, replaced with a hatred that would do anything to hurt The Order.
