Skyseer
The Council of Skyseers is a sacred and influential order within the Windcloaks, tasked with interpreting the will of the skies and guiding the military, spiritual, and political paths of the Windborn people. Comprised of oracles, storm-dreamers, and cloud-diviners, the Skyseers are both revered and feared—believed to be chosen by the Everstorm itself to act as its voices and visionaries.
They hold ultimate authority over the selection of the Stormmarshal, serve as keepers of storm omens, and are the primary spiritual advisors in all matters relating to sky-signs, celestial alignments, and weather-wrought prophecy.
Duties
- Interpret Sky-Omens: Analyze patterns in cloud formations, lightning arcs, thunder rhythms, and wind behavior to forecast significant events or threats.
- Select the Stormmarshal: Through a process called the Thundervision Rite, the Skyseers receive divine symbols to confirm the next leader of the Skyborn.
- Guide the Windcloaks: Advise the Windcloak leadership on where and when to strike, retreat, or hold during large-scale conflicts or changes in weather-based magic currents.
- Guard the Sky Codices: Ancient scrolls said to contain written interpretations of past Everstorm whispers and warnings. Only the Skyseers may read them.
Cultural Significance
- The Skyseers are viewed as sacred intermediaries, almost never disobeyed, even by generals or ruling bodies.
- Their visions are performed in public during Skychant Gatherings, where storm-callers sing windsongs and seers fall into trance.
- The Council is known for its cryptic prophecies, which often become the foundation of Windcloak myths and major political decisions.
