Glacial Host

The Glacial Host is the vast, relentless military arm of the Iceshard Dominion, commanded by the fearsome General Iskar the Shard-Blooded. This force is not simply an army—it is a conquest machine crafted from undeath, cryomancy, and cold precision. It functions as both the Dominion’s shield and spear, ensuring the eternal rule of Queen Lysandra Coldveil and spreading the reach of her icy dominion across the tundra and beyond.

The banner of the Glacial Host is a silver skull within a jagged glacier under a pale crescent moon. Their armor gleams with frosted steel and sapphire runes, and their marches are heralded by howling winds and falling snow—even in summer lands.

Structure

The Glacial Host is divided into multiple divisions, each serving a specialized role in warfare. It is made up of both undead legions and living auxiliaries, bound by necromantic command structures and glacial discipline.

1. Frostwrought Legions
  • The main fighting force of the Host: ranks of reanimated soldiers, often former Dominion citizens or enemies turned into weapons of war.
  • Armed with ice-tempered weapons and frozen armor that is magically reinforced.
  • Completely fearless and unrelenting, needing neither rest nor morale.
2. Cryomantic Constructs
  • Massive, rune-bound ice golems, sentient glacier-beasts, and animated siege towers.
  • Created by Dominion Frostbinders and often fueled by bound souls or death-ice harvested from fallen enemies.
  • Serve as shock units and living fortifications in battle.
3. Frost-Drakes and Glacier Beasts
  • Semi-sentient reptilian beasts with scales of ice and breath like blizzards.
  • Used for cavalry charges, aerial attacks, and terror tactics.
  • Often bonded to specific riders or Cryomancers.
4. Necromancer Cohorts
  • Groups of living or undead spellcasters who direct and control the legions.
  • Often stationed at the rear, these casters unleash blizzards, summon reinforcements from ice, or raise fallen enemies to join the Host.
  • Senior necromancers are elevated to Lichdom and answer directly to Iskar.
5. Living Auxiliaries
  • Not all members of the Host are undead. Scouts, engineers, and archers are often living Frost Elves or Icy Wastes Orcs, chosen for their cold resistance and survival skills.
  • Death in battle is not the end—many are reanimated and reassigned.

The supreme commander of the Glacial Host, General Iskar is a towering revenant encased in living glacial armor. Once a mortal warlord and champion of the Iceshard Dominion, he was offered undeath by Lysandra herself and underwent the Rite of Shard-Blooding, fusing his soul with a crystalline heart of ice.

  • Personality: Coldly logical, disciplined, and unwaveringly loyal to Lysandra.
  • Powers: Commands battlefield ice with his will, can resurrect entire squadrons with a stomp of his glaive, and is immune to nearly all fire-based attacks.
  • Reputation: Known across the north as the Ice-Tyrant, he is both feared and revered, even by Dominion subjects.

Culture

The Glacial Host operates with militaristic perfection, guided by unbreakable discipline and unholy synchronization. Their strategies include:

  • Glacial Encroachment – The Host slowly advances, turning terrain into frozen death zones via magical ice storms and cryomantic terraforming.
  • Frozen Hammer and Wraith Anvil – Undead forces pin enemies while spectral or frost-drake units flank and destroy.
  • Soul Recycling – Casualties are immediately repurposed into fresh reinforcements, overwhelming foes who cannot replenish as fast.

The Host's encampments shift with the ice, often merging into the land itself. Frozen forts rise overnight; glacial trenches appear in hours.
