Fungal Gods
To the Withered Elves and their priesthoods—especially the Rot-Speakers and Hollow Choir—deity and decomposition are indistinguishable. Their Fungal Gods are not radiant creators or warlike sovereigns, but primordial intelligences born from rot, spores, and symbiosis. Some are truly sentient entities; others are vast spiritual concepts given form through worship.
Though alien and terrifying to outsiders, to the Withered Elves, these gods represent the sacred cycle of growth, decay, and rebirth—the inevitable truth that all must fall, and from that fall, feed new life.
Worship
To followers of the Fungal Pantheon, life is a brief breath, and death is a sacred song. The gods are not separate from the rot—they are the rot. Worship involves:
- Allowing oneself to decay in service to the next life
- Fungal symbiosis as a sign of divine favor
- Decomposing temples, often built from living wood, corpse soil, and fungus
- Sacred texts written in mycelial patterns or encoded spore clouds
