The Lexica Totam

The Lexica Totam, an extremely rare book that is handed down by some of the wisest scholars and magicians. Within are words that flow, everchanging. Anyone can write into the book, but only the most well researched and founded truths will be absorbed into the pages, freeing up the page to be used again. Free pages can, if not subjected to ink, shift into a random page of the totality of the work, giving the reader insight into often long forgotten knowledge.

Components

The hide of a plane-shifting creature. Usualy the chitin of a phase spider is required. The binding and the paper is made from ancient trees from the Francola Woods.

Manufacturing process

If a Lexica is to be made the refined ingrediants must first be individually made. In the far north the leather is made by the Imyalian elves, while the people of the Francola Woods make the paper and binding. Then on one of the pages new knowledge must be inscribed. All these components are then brought to The Grand Library, where Paramunth will give it to the Curators. Exatly 783 hours and 24 minutes laters a Curators will emerge, handing over a bound book. If the knowledge inscribed is new and sufficiently interesting a completly new Lexica Totam with blank pages will be handed out. Otherwise a mundane book will be given out whith the first page being the inscribed page.   The knowledge inscribed on the first page must be extremly significant, much more so than what would normaly be absorbed by a Lexica. An example is the discovery of the spell that is the foundation of the Teleportation Circles, while the discovery of a weather controlling spell that easily doubled the output of crops in Branos was not sufficient to create a Lexica.

The holy book of Miranu.
