Soldiers of the Night

The night is dark and within hide terrible monsters. One may ask why they hide. "We are" would be the simple answer that comes from the shadows in the dark.

Structure

At the head of the soldiers the Avatar reigns supreme. He is the final arbitrator but the individual soldier has immense freedom in who he chooses to prosecute. In practice it was very rare for the Avatar to have to actually delegate the soldiers.

Public Agenda

There are many forces at play in any complicated society, and not all of them are good. For hordes of monsters and evil organizations the army and honest politicians are the perfect hammer. They can destroy these with dangers to the safety of the people with overwhelming force. Sometimes overwhelming force can be more of a hindrance though. Monsters abuse Nyx’s night to hide as they stalk their prey and corrupt and selfish individuals abuse the bureaucracy to exploit the people.
In the shadows the elite troop lead by the Avatar of Nyx hides, for from the shadows they strike quickly and without warning.

Assets

The true extent of the assets of the soldiers of the night has never been given to public record. All that is known is that the soldiers only real asset is the network of extremely skilled warriors. Estimates say that the number of members range from a few dozen to a few hundred.

History

The Soldiers were founded shortly after the the war of the avatar. Akkarin Ladon realized that there were problems that needed delicate hands and, after gathering the first members, founded the soldiers of the night.
The soldiers remained a constant for the greater part of the history of Branos, until Nyx removed herself from the world. Akkarin Ladon, losing his state as an Avatar, also soon left. The soldiers soon began to decline, no longer having the authority to act as they once did. They are still in Emeresia, but consist of only around a dozen members that frantically attempt to dismantle threats before they become to great.
