Trials of Succession
Major conflict of the visual novel. After the previous Wolven emperor's ship mysteriously crashes on its way to Adastra City, his two male sons, Amicus and Cassius, are pit against each other for succession of the emperorship under supervision of the acting emperor Cato. Three trials are set for the contestants to compete against each other with the Triumvirates of the five other major cities of Adastra casting a single vote. The acting emperor casts a vote for Adastra City and counts as two votes. The Trial of Music and Dance is the first trial involving a dramatic re-enactment of the Wolvish Legend of Drusus and Meera dance form. The second trial is the Trial of Rhetoric where the two heirs are given 20 minutes to debate and give a speech about their vision for the empire. The third trial is the Trial of Combat, only needed if a clear winner is not decided in the first two trials.
