The Auroran Reformation marks a turning point in the history of the Nasir Dominion, as well as the fate of Creator Astralism and the chimeras. The crisis began as religious tensions between the traditional Creator Astralians and the heretical Auroran sect boiled over into violent riots across the Dominion’s major cities.
With the realm teetering on the edge of collapse, King Kuhlidar IV was forced to take a definitive stance. Pressured by influential Auroran theologians—most notably High Cleric Seraphon Edris—the king formally adopted Auroran Astralism as the Dominion’s state religion, denouncing the old faith’s belief in the Creator and shifting worship solely toward the Astrals.
This proclamation led to the Great Astralian Exodus (1256–1253 BA), as thousands of Creator Astralians fled the Dominion, crossing the Riah Channel and seeking refuge in the fractured human kingdoms to the west. Many of these displaced faithful, led by Archpriestess Yelara Sain, established hidden enclaves to preserve their traditions.
With the Aurorans in power, reform did not stop at religion. Influential court figures such as Chancellor Vareth Kain persuaded King Kuhlidar IV to enact sweeping social changes. One of the most significant was the Chimera Liberation Edict (1254 BA), which officially outlawed the enslavement of chimeras—a practice deeply entrenched in Nasiri society. However, true freedom remained an illusion. Stripped of property, rights, and status, most former slaves had no choice but to enter indentured servitude under legal contracts that often differed little from slavery. Despite the edict, chimeras remained a despised underclass, rarely afforded opportunities beyond menial labor and military conscription.
By this time, the chimeras had all but lost their ancestral knowledge of being the first great race of Adarus. Generations of subjugation had erased much of their history, and few among them even spoke of the time when their kind ruled the world.
Though the Auroran Reformation solidified the Dominion’s religious and political landscape for centuries to come, it also planted the seeds of future conflict. The displaced Creator Astralians would not forget their exile, and among the chimera population, whispers of lost glory began to stir once more.
