Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Yasu has a slender though muscularly defined frame. His years of diligently working to improve his artisan skills has lent to the development of a healthy, toned body. Strength and flexibilty make up for his short stature.

Identifying Characteristics

A trait unique to the vulimera, Yasu's most distinguishing physical trait is that his fox-like tail appears to extend and "burn" like fire whenever he's channeling magic. Though the flames adopt the russet color of the tail's fur, the hairs glow vibrantly and give the impression of actual fire. This is an illusion, of course, and the "flames" cause no harm.
Yasu's hair is an unkempt mess, but this compliments his youthful visage. He allows one lock of hair to remain long while he keeps the rest cut at most to the corner of his jaw. This lone lock of hair falls from behind and over his left shoulder.

Apparel & Accessories

Yasu's favorite top can hardly be considered a shirt of any kind, but he prefers single loose sleeves (like those of a yukata) that rise to a straight, tsume-eri style collar. These tops are usually one solid color, save for a contrasting stitch patterns and seams.
For pants, he wears traditional hakama bottoms (usually white or black) over fundoshi undergaments. His preferred footwear is one-tooth geta with white socks.
Yasu claims his own style of clothing (unique even among his fellow Motsutans because of the top) helps keep him cool when working on his crafts.

Personal history

Yasuyoshi is a descendant of a respected guild of artisans and blacksmiths that specialize in magic items.

Most that know Yasu's handiwork would speak of him with nothing short of praise and admiration that sometimes borders on envy. But a few bards that know the tale, would tell you a story of betrayal and regret.

Many years ago, one of Yasu's wealthier patrons commissioned a special sword to be forged: one with the power to cut down a devil that plagued his household. Yasu agreed to craft the weapon, so long as the patron promised to only wield the blade against evil. The man agreed and swore an oath. His words may not have been hollow at the time, but they were at the very least shallow. For when the man finally cut the devil down with Yasu's blade, he fell victim to a thirst for power. The weapon fed on this corruptible desire and twisted the man's mind. It demanded more blood, and so its wielder obeyed. Breaking his oath to Yasu, the blade's master mercilessly cut down innocents. The man wiped out his entire household, himself becoming like the devil he slew, and when there was no one else to kill, he fled, taking the sword with him.

Now, Yasuyoshi, ever regretful of his youthful naïveté, rarely entrusts his works to others. And until the sword he forged is returned to him and ultimately destroyed, he will not stop hunting for it.

The vulimera is an artisan by trade, as the rest of his family and his ancestors before him. He is both a weaponsmith and automaton engineer and has studied Dreams Era chimeric engineering since apprenticeship under his grandfather. A reconstructed bipedal mechanical humanoid, "Jun", serves as Yasu's personal attendant and bodyguard.
