Personal history
Born to Duke Adeneau and Duchess Aelizia Duval, Andri grew up as an heir to one of the most powerful and respected noble houses of the Arcanaan Empire. He received a formal education from the Violet College, attended the Melís military officers academy (the Grande Marc Gardet), and received his father's crown after Adeneau Duval's untimely passing to illness shortly after Andri's graduation from the academy. The Dowager Duchess Aelizia frequently advised her son on governmental affairs until Andri befriended Ser Pasquier Toutain of the Templar Brotherhood of Addelum, after which time, Pasquier accepted the role of Andri's primary advisor on law, governance, and military strategy.
Today, Duke Andri is largely focused on quelling chimera uprisings in his dukedom, spreading Meloir's Grande Armée across his territory in hopes of crushing any armed rebellion. But the rise of the Raven, the enigmatic leader of mercenaries ravaging Meloir's countryside, is proving to be a thorn in his side.
Morality & Philosophy
The duke would describe himself as a realist: someone that sees the world as it is, not as he wishes it to be. He is not blinded by idealism or wishful thinking. He is aware of the flaws and imperfections of the empire, but he does not let this stop him from carrying out the will of the imperator, for going against the grain would only cause suffering and misery for the people in his charge.
On the issue of slavery and chimeras, Duke Andri firmly positions himself as a loyalist and imperialist, with fealty sworn to the imperator alone. Thus, he cannot abide the rebels or be seen to offer sympathy for their plight. While some servants close to the duke may whisper and spread rumors of his desire for the imperator to change official policy, his advisors quickly dismiss such notions as idle gossip meant to tarnish the Duval family name. What is certain, however, are the duke's orders to the Grande Armée to weed out rebellion and insurrection, wherever found.
Andri Morin Duval, of the great House Duval, is the duke and highest-ranking noble of Meloir.
