History
Titus is a former Marine of the USMC. He joined Officer Candidates School at the age of 18 in 2020, and, after receiving his commission, went on to later serve in three separate American-led joint operations in the Seychelles during the Resource Wars of 2025-2040. Among the medals earned, he was awarded a Purple Heart after being shot in the abdomen by an enemy sniper while carrying a wounded fellow Marine over his shoulders. In conjuction, he was also awarded the Navy Cross for his bravery in the face of the enemy and gusto to keep going for the sake of his comrade, despite his grave injury.
After separating from the Corps, Titus applied for a position with the
Apex Security Forces, the privatized and well-equipped militia owned by the namesake technology corporation and charged with guarding their employers' high-level assets. He served as a captain for just over a year before being selected to command the expedition team through the Polyphemus gate and establish a base camp.
During his time up until his special selection, Titus was in charge of
Dr. Isaac Evenway's personal security detail. Evenway counts Titus among the most reliable of his A-Sec officers. Now, stepping up to lead an entirely new division (the Odysseus 1st and 2nd Expeditions), Cmdr Titus will be taking on the greatest and most dangerous mission of his life.
Psychological Profile
"Off the walls", according to a disciplinary report filed years ago when the then-major was still an officer in the Marine Corps. The comment was referring to a number of "questionable command calls" that earned Titus a reputation for trusting his intuition more than military intelligence. One such call was to detonate plastic charges to collapse a rock formation on top of an enemy outpost that was, at the same time, being raiding by a friendly attachment of French Armed Forces. The collapse could have injured several French service members had Titus not given precise instructions about the placement of the charges. Chunks of boulder and rock landed on the roof of the command post, buckling the ceiling and crushing a squad of enemy combatants that were holding out inside, preparing to surround the French troops when they pushed to a certain point inside the compound.
Jon has made a number of odd, but astoundingly correct, calls many times during his service. He claims that his brain is "wired to always sense when something is amiss". Perhaps the commander possesses a far higher degree of intuition than most… or maybe he's just really lucky. Either way, service record and medals speak for themselves.
Finally, Titus was, as a Marine, often noted to be an all-around "people person" or "just a generally good guy". Despite his rank, he was not above cracking jokes and joining with subordinates during their off-duty hours. However, some of that has changed since leaving the Corps, and most that served with him suggest it may have had something to do with the nearly-fatal injury he suffered near the end of his military service. He has since become less trusting, less approachable, and has adopted a more fierce personality. But, despite these evident changes, the commander is still an inspiration to many in the E-ASF. His no-bullshit approach to command and ability to still think on his feet and make the right calls has rallied A-Sec around him.
