Common idioms and phrases

The following is a few common phrases and idioms in the common tongue.

  • "Sol bless you" - a common way to say goodbye. The customary response is: "and his light shine upon you." 
  • "Time is rusting" - a phrase often attributed to the smiths of Cyre. It means time is short. 
  • "By the nine!" - A exclamation of surprise or horror. It refers to the Nine Hells. 
  • "It is/this place is/they are full of ants!" - A reference to a story of a man who man who made a deal with a demon. Betting that he could remain watchful his entire life. Whenever he failed to keep watch various precious objects turned out to be full of ants. It mean "I expected this to be normal, but it was full of skin-crawling horror instead". 
  • "Can I get you a ladder, so you can get off my back?" - A common phrase used when someone is particularly annoying. 
  • "When you want a problem shot, ask an orc. When you want a problem talked to death, ask a halfling. When you want a new problem, ask an elf. When you want a problem solved, ask a human." - Common version of a Myzian saying. 
  • "Not for all the gold in Axendria!" - A variation of "not for all the money in the world."
