Adar

Adar is the common name for the only known inhabitet planet on the material plane. The explored portions of Adar consists of a massive ocean, sprinkled with thousands of islands of every size. 
Humans, Dwarves and Orcs all claim Adar as their place of origin. Other species, such as the elves, originally emerged on other planes, and have come to Adar within recorded history.

Geography

Adar is vast, and no known civilisation has explored it in its entirety. Both a barrier and a highway for travel is the massive world ocean which is believed to encircle Adar. No continental landmass is known to exist, although some of the islands on Adar are vast in size. 
The northern and southern poles of Adar are covered with permanent ice caps. On and near the equator the heat can be sweltering. Adar contain many climate zones. From lush forests, great dry plans, deserts and snowy expanses, temperate forests and gentle farmlands. Many large islands contain a variety of environments.
The island geography of Adar has had a major impact on the culture of the various societies which inhabit the world. It has led some societies to live in near total isolation from the outside, safe and self sufficient on their islands. However, most societies have taken to the sea, trading, communicating and warring with their surrounding communities.
