Beneath the Surface Report

General Summary

As we travel down this dark path, I take point along with Elias. Those that can't see stay enclosed in our group and follow the sound of our steps. Up ahead we spot light, I'm sure Stodgy is thrilled to see anything. The light seems to be coming from the mushrooms in this large open room. Upon first glance, it is pretty clear that the mushrooms are not edible. However, some of the party members seem to be quite curious about the mushrooms. Stodgy even tasted them. As a side benefit, he now has a light to walk by. I have some torches I would have let him have if he wanted, but whatever.
Leaving this room, I feel like we picked up the pace a little. The tunnel seems to be coated in a weird substance. No one else seems to be concerned, I just keep marching forward. Another room seems to open up ahead. No mushrooms in this one, just a bridge over a large lake. I hope that water isn’t this gooey stuff. I check the water, it's ok.
Only way through is forward, we start crossing the bridge. Aah, the old bird holding a glowing rope trick. The motion of the bridge seems to have drawn something to us in the water, something big. A bone fin appears from the water, it looks like it might be a shark. Two more appear. I sense these sharks are undead.
Why is the bridge on fire?!
I guess we need to kill these sharks, so I leap off the bridge bringing my axe down on one of the undead sharks “SMITE!”. Bob jumps off the bridge with me with his hands glowing with fire, not bad. I can't really see what everyone else is doing, between these sharks and trying to stay afloat in the water. The water seems less angry over there though, wondering if they already killed the other sharks. Is that Arlin running away?
Now what the hell is that thing that joined the battle? I guess it doesn't matter, it will have to die too. Why the hell is Bob attacking me? Maybe it's battle fog, I'll just slap him up a bit to refocus him. What the hell was that hit me? Damn it! Now Elias is attacking me too!
I grab my axe again and hit Bob with it. As I am following up with a second strike I notice a change in him. I'm able to mostly avoid my second strike from hitting him. Looks like my new ax is good for more than just killing and maiming! Time to cure Elias now. n With my companions' wits returned to them, I'm going to jump off this bridge and smite this thing like I did with that first shark. Fuck! I slipped. I continue with my attacks, with the three of us beating this thing down it's starting to look bloody. Hey, it looks like Arlin is coming back. Why is Stodgy with him, did he run away too? That creature dies.
The flames are gone, that must have been what Arlin and Stodgy were doing. I need to pass out.
