Human
The human race is the youngest species to ever achieve spaceflight. Their technology advanced remarkably slowly in comparison to other species, but their intelligence, perseverance, and sheer power of will have proven to be remarkably reliable tools in the vast, unforgiving galaxy.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Humans are the archetypal "humanoid" species. They stand upright, and appear physically similar to simian animals. Humans possess two arms, and two legs, and have five fingers on each hand, one of which is an opposable thumb. Their bodies can vary greatly in size, physical conditioning, and visual characteristics. Humans are typically covered in a thin layer of hair all over their body, though it is most noticable on top of their heads, in small strips above their eyes, on arms and legs, and in the groin area. Males of the species grow hair on their faces, which some cultivate into different styles to compliment their appearance.
Genetics and Reproduction
Humans reproduce sexually, by use of zygotes and seminal fluids. The female is impregnated through physical intercourse, and carries a fetus to term over the course of (typically) 9 months. After such time, she gives birth to an infant human.
Despite the substantial genetic diversity of humans, certain physical traits have been becoming rarer ever since the 21st and 22nd centuries, when the mixing of different Earth ethnicities, due to social progression and acceptance, became more commonplace. To this end, with the merging of genetics, certain traits have declined in frequency. Recessive physical traits like blonde and red hair, as well as blue and green eyes, are even less common in the present day.

Growth Rate & Stages
At 11 to 12 years of age, humans hit what is known as 'puberty'. This begins the species' sexual development stage. Humans in this period of their life will begin developing more accentuated dimorphism properties.
When a human female reaches her late 40s or early 50s, she will enter what is called 'menopause'. Menopause happens because the female's ovaries stop producing the hormones known as estrogen and progesterone.

Ecology and Habitats
Humans are well suited to temperate environments, having difficulty in extreme cold or heat. They also require oxygen to breathe, and exhale carbon dioxide.
Compared to other species, humans are one of the more adaptable forms of sapient life, much like Elendri.

Dietary Needs and Habits
Humans are omnivorous, able to eat just about any food item, given that it is cooked properly and free of contaminants that their bodies aren't able to digest, or that could harm them.
