Chordata

The capital city of Acidenlay is Chordata.
This large settlement quickly grew to be the only settlement in the country able to be categorized as a city. Upon Enoxx's rise to the thrown the call was made for craftsmen to construct a castle fit for the king. With the forming of a kingdom, an army was needed so the soldiers came too. Those who sought power and position quickly claimed land to be closest to the new king. This influx caused a massive burst in population, and in a short few decades, the city of Chordata was a bustling metropolis where anything someone desires could be found.
Enoxx selected the location based on its proximity to the coast and river. The Upper fishing waters are the best around the mainland of Acidenlay, and the Lower Riverlands being rich in farming made the supply of food close at hand. Its proximity to the mountains provided natural protection in the distance but was still far enough away that made for easy construction of the city. Not to mention the mountains and the forests at their bases provided all the supplies necessary for construction. The river again allows for ease of transport of the resources to the location.
The city is made up of 3 primary levels, though in the coming years, a fourth is inevitable. The heart of the city lies on its Upper bank where the king's castle was constructed. Its grounds are enclosed within in a double wall with 3 gates houses that allow access to the grounds across the mot between. Outside of this sits the Inner District made up of the residence of the nobles, the cathedral of XXX, a university, a great library, the guild halls of the most skilled of craftsmen, and the grounds of the King's Pride. The Inner District is itself encircled by a wall that divides it from the Outer District. Along this wall are 5 arch gates connecting the two districts. The Outer district is where the general population lives along with a variety of other guild halls and shops. The most notable structure in the Outer District is The Pit. The Pit is a large arena where games are healed annually to celebrate the unification of Acidenlay. Beyond the Outer District is a final wall with 3 gates that exit out of the city. However, additional houses and settlements are starting to form outside of this final wall, and not unnoticed. Plans are in place for the inevitable need to expand Chordata's borders.
3 bridges exit Chordata crossing the river to the lands on the opposite bank. Here too you will find a quick-growing grouping of houses and guild halls. This area has already been given the name River District amongst the population of Chordata. 2 Bridges connect this River District to the Outer District and the 3rd most northern bridge connects to the Inner District. Though this gate often sits bard at the request of the nobles who live on the Chordata side of the river.
