The Malakesh (Mal-āk-esh)

Of the lesser celestials, the Malakesh are Grogori creations, serving as their observers and heralds. When humanity is concerned, the Malakesh interfere only in matters concerning cosmological threats to the underpinnings of the Immaculate Machine. Their quiet demeanor hides an indominable will that not even the greatest of the Devils can sway from their purpose. They've seen the face of their creator, and gladly serve, even when the weight of such service seems too heavy a price to bear.

Appearance

Slender and androgynous, this genderless Heritage are near-human in appearance, save their greyish hues and white wings. Most have eyes that glow a single color across their sclera to pupils, an indication of their fully other-worldly origins.

Culture

Malakeshi culture tends towards the elusive, refraining from sharing their own ways with outsiders. Inwardly, they seem themselves as generally egalitarian with those whom are higher ranking in their society a product of divine choice, and therefore an obscurity to know the real reasons.

They prize conformity and submission to their purpose. As a result, few, if any, Malakesh actually rise in status their lifetimes, since to do so represents ambition. Willful ambition is suspect, as those Malakesh and Grigori whom did so in the First Era became demons and devils, condemned to live outside Creation, the in anima-deprived Sheolian Planes. So, instead, the Malakesh tend to lean into the skills they already have, putting them to the best purpose they can find in the situation they find themselves in, hoping that in their free-will, they choose the best path to accomplish the results that support Gaia and Creation.

As constructs of the celestials, The Malakesh do not age, but emerge from the aether fully-formed. As a result, they can be any age, but never from a prior Age. Beings of will, they have a consistent sense of purpose, but may not connect cultural nuances, mores and taboos, especially of other heritages when they are young. They often develop skills as great poets and musicians, sage advisors, and fierce (if not reluctant) warriors.

Naming Convention

The Malakesh take their names from their purpose most often, leaning on their background to find a name with meaning. With human cultures outside of Achenar representing celestials differently, the Malakesh some times take adaptations of meanings from these names instead.
