The Unamitami

They were called the Unamitami. They were the unknown fear in the hearts of the South Water Kingdoms; heck, they were known to set fire to anything that stood in their way!
The Unamitami is the centre of a very old conspiracy theory centred around the South Water Kingdom when it was at war with the North Water Kingdom. The theory describes them as a group of seven ruthless arsonists who were trained by the North Water Kingdom to kill the South Water Kingdom’s king. They never succeeded, but they did kill a lot of other important people.

Summary

The Unamitami refers to a group of seven (“unam” meaning group and “Itami” meaning seven in Hadsf). The rumour began after the night of fires, where seven military commanders of the South Water Kingdom were killed during a time of war between the North and South Water Kingdoms. There was great terror, during the course of which the rumours began to become rampant. The most common was that the houses were burnt by seven different people, one to each house. These seven people were arsonists supposedly trained by the North Water Kingdom and who had infiltrated the South Water Kingdom. They were said to be very powerful and stealthy. The theory is partly true but has never been proved.

Historical Basis

The theory is partly true and was quite popular during the period of war between the North and South Water Kingdoms. It spread like wildfire after the night of fires, a day in the war where seven military commanders of the South Water Kingdom were killed after their houses were torched by a person or some people who were never caught.

Spread

The conspiracy theory was so common among the military force of the South Water Kingdom that there were fewer people who joined the military the next year.

Variations & Mutation

Some variations include the arsonists being shown as assassins, and some others show the arsonists in the form of beings from hell.

In Literature

The seven arsonists were compared to hell in most works of literature. There existed very few works that show their true nature. Some people referenced them in various contexts, most of them being related to something related to fire or bad things.

In Art

There are very few artists who believed in the conspiracy theory of the seven arsonists. The few who believed it created magnificent works of art on the dome of the underwater temple of Glauci Potinades. The most famous of them all was called The Seven Arsonists, and it featured the seven evil arsonists setting fire to a building. The next panel showed them getting ready for being killed by the guillotine.
