Goblin Swamplands

The Goblin Swamplands is an area off the southwest coast of the ocean inhabited mostly by the tuberous goblin tribes. It is known as a hostile but highly fertile location where rare flora grow and can't be found anywhere else.

Geography

Hills are common, and the lowlands are either filled with water or muddy. Streams cut through the forested lands with yellow-tinted water and spill out into the pools of the lowlands or into the salty ocean.

Natural Resources

Timber isn't a strong resource here, because whilst trees are abundant, they are large and tough to chop into, likely long ago infused with some kind of earthen thaumite. Plant fibres for weaving are abundant, however, since the large and sturdy ferns of the swamplands cover much of the forest floor.

Settlements

Many different goblin tribes call these swamplands their home, building encampments on the water or on hilltops. Corvidfolk have made a settlement in the tops of some of the larger trees, keeping away from the carnivorous goblins. Lizardfolk usually make small houses on the outskirts of the swamps, trying to keep from angering their goblin neighbours. Sometimes they paint their faces and wear headdresses to scare the goblins into thinking they're merfolk, about to eat them, but for the most part they keep to themselves. They try to warn other travellers from entering, making them aware of goblins' vicious nature.

Flora & Fauna

Huin Root is a rare plant that only grows in the Goblin Swamplands, used by medicine makers and known to cause numbness. It proves extremely useful in surgeries, but is also a great topical cure for toothaches or muscle pain.

Cerpus is a dangerous mammal, which appears as a carniverous deer-like species that hunts in packs. Their young proves to be good prey for the goblins that live here.

/* Cerpus (combining latin for 'deer' and 'wolf', literally a wolf-deer combination) */
