Dean

Deans are people in the field of education who preside over a specific academic unit, over a specific area of concern, or both. There are eight deans employed by Academia Prime, one for each college. The eight deans make up the board of Academia Prime. These people are as follows:  
  • Grace Allbright, the Dean of Life Magic and the head of the council
  • Jack Ward, the Dean of Mediumship
  • Ignus Smith, the Dean of Pyrocasting
  • Elizabeth Rhyme, the Dean of Cryonic Magics
  • Patricia Harlow, the Dean of Terric Magic
  • Adair Bergren, the Dean of Fluidicasters
  • Charles Dirgess, the Dean of Particulate Magic
  • Amanda Ponteblanc, the Dean of Physical Manipulations
  • Career

    Qualifications

    All deans of Academia Prime were previously professors of their respective college. Deans are chosen by the School President upon the retirement notice of the previous dean. Generally, deans must have an extensive knowledge of their subject and an amount of popularity amongst their students.

    Payment & Reimbursement

    All deans of Academia Prime are paid the same amount, and seniority is irrelevant to the benefits offered. The salary is adjusted every five years to account for cost of living changes. The deans of Academia Prime are permitted to live in the Teacher's Dorms should they so choose. Deans receive no discounts on the dorms nor on the amenities provided by the school.

    Purpose

    Deans are responsible for taking disciplinary action against students and faculty that cause problems. They are also tasked with ensuring their teachers' ability to do their jobs. Support for the teachers may be in securing supplies or may be provided in different ways.

    Each dean has an office in their respective college. There is also a large board room reserved for the deans' usage in the administrative building of Academia Prime.
