King's Proving

It is time for the king to prove himself to us again. Or we might be getting a new king.

A yearly event that is a traditional fight. The fight is to make the king prove that he is still strong enough to fight and lead. The match is to the death. If the king dies in combat then the victor will become the next king. The proving lasts for the whole day.

History

The event started when a prideful king claimed that he could take anyone and that if he was wrong his killer would become the next king. The next day there was a line of challengers that were wishing to take the king on. The king and his challengers went to the arena, and the challenges started. The king was killed and his challenger did become the next king. Just as the former king degreed. The proving takes place on the same day as the first proving. The rules are still the same as the first. The only time when the proving does not happen is when there is a war going on.

Execution

The king and the challenger go at an arena. They are allowed weapons. No one can stop the fight, and the fight only ends when someone dies.

Components and tools

Any weapon can be used. The only bit of armory the participants are not allowed to have is armor. They may wear cloth, but they are not allowed to wear leather or mail.

Participants

There are only two participants for the proving. The king and the challenger. They have to fight each other to the death. If the challenger dies the king is allowed a small rest. Then the next match will start. If the king dies the challenger is taken to the palace and is crowned.
